With the aim of promoting and disseminating knowledge and skills in commercial mediation in Vietnam, on October 19th, the Vietnam Mediation Centre(VMC) under the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), in collaboration with the Vietnam International Commercial Mediation Center (VICMC) and with the support of the Judicial Academy, successfully organized the Mediation Moot Round and the Closing Ceremony of the Vietnam Mediation Moot 2025 (V-MED 2025).
Building on the success of previous editions, V-MED 2025 continued to attract remarkable nationwide interest, with 197 teams and more than 700 students from 29 universities and academies across the country registering to compete. Following three intensive training workshops and a theoretical assessment, the Organizing Committee (OC) selected the top 20 teams to advance to Stage 2 and the Mediation Moot Round - held on October 18–19, 2025.
Stage 2 featured three competition rounds based on hypothetical cases carefully designed by the Organizing Committee. The sessions were filled with dynamic, engaging, and intellectually stimulating exchanges, as participants assumed the roles of mediators and disputing parties.
This year, in addition to the two main stages - Stage 1 and Stage 2 - the Mediation Moot Round was held in-person at the Judicial Academy. This format allowed contestants, judges, and both on-site and online audiences to jointly select the “Most Favorite Team Award,” one of the special awards of V-MED 2025.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Dang Thi Thom, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy; Dr. Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy; Mr. Nguyen Hung Quang, Managing Partner of NHQuang & Associates; Mr. Phan Trong Dat, Acting Director of the Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC), a division of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC); along with the Top 20 finalist teams, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students from the Judicial Academy and various universities and academies across the country.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy, emphasized that V-MED 2025 has truly become a prestigious academic platform that gathers the intellect, passion, and creativity of young minds. Through the competition, students not only gained valuable friendships but also deepened their professional understanding of commercial mediation. Although V-MED 2025 has come to an end, its impact continues to resonate by empowering today’s young talents to become tomorrow’s outstanding mediators and further elevate Vietnam’s reputation in the realm of commercial dispute resolution.
Representing the OC, Mr. Phan Trong Dat, Acting Director of the Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC), delivered the closing address. He emphasized that the development of mediation in Vietnam has been greatly supported by the Courts and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Board of Administration, faculty, and lecturers of the Judicial Academy for their strong and continued support of the competition. Mr. Dat also expressed his hope that this cooperation will extend beyond student competitions to include broader initiatives promoting mediation in Vietnam. He extended his appreciation to the judges of both Stage 1 and Stage 2 for their fairness, dedication and for sharing their valuable time, experience, and expertise with the participating teams. Mr. Dat also took the opportunity to thank the sponsors of the competition.
The Mediation Moot Round featured three outstanding teams: Team Blue Whale (Ho Chi Minh City University of Law), Team Lottery (Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam), and Team KHÔNG LAW LẮNG (Judicial Academy). Their performances were highly commended for their accurate determination of legal issues, strategic approach, clear and coherent presentation, as well as their composure and confidence throughout the sessions. Following the demonstration round, both on-site and online audience were invited to vote for their favorite team. Team KHÔNG LAW LẮNG won the Most Popular Team Award with their impressive performance.

At the Closing Ceremony, the OC presented Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards to the winning teams in both the Mediator and Mediating Party categories, along with several special prizes recognizing exceptional achievements throughout the competition.
